Awards were presented to all those who distinguished themselves in the 3rd Pupil & Student Programming Competition “Kozani 2030: Climate neutral and smart city”, on the afternoon of Friday, July 1, 2022, in the auditorium of the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering of the University of Western Macedonia.

Students from the school units of the Regional Unit of Kozani, as well as students from the University of Western Macedonia, programmed applications with inspiration, imagination and creativity, with the aim of transforming the Municipality of Kozani into a smart Municipality. The proposals were once again creative, imaginative and extremely innovative.

The event was greeted by the Mayor of Kozani, Lazaros Maloutas, the Rector of the University of Western Macedonia, Theodoros Theodoulidis, as well as the President of the Department of Mechanical Engineering & Computer Engineering, George Christoforidis.

The event was attended by the Chairman of the Municipal Council, Markos Floros, the Deputy Mayor for Climate Neutrality and Degarbonization, Vassilis Goumas, the Deputy Mayor for Digital Transition and New Technologies, Anastasios Rafailidis, as well as the Dean of the Polytechnic School of the UOWM, Athanasios Triantafillou.

The competition was organized by the Municipality of Kozani, the Regional Directorate of Education of Western Macedonia and the Department of Electrical Engineering & Computer Engineering of the University of Western Macedonia.

Before the award ceremony, groups of students exhibited important projects that they have implemented in the context of their studies, in the foyer of the building.

The competition was held with the support of the HELLENIC PETROLEUM Group.
