As the mayor of Kozani, Lazaros Maloutas, underlined during his presentation at the 2nd thematic stakeholders’ workshop of the Mission, “We claim the participation of our Municipality in the 100 climate neutral and smart cities of the EU, in order to achieve by 2030 what the rest of Europe will achieve by 2050, making a leap into the future. We are a pioneer in the field of circular economy and we claim to remain an Energy Center in the new period by welcoming investments in RES. We aspire that our region should be a national pole of innovation, green technologies and sustainability and would like it to become an investment destination”.

The 2nd thematic stakeholders’ workshop took place in the context of the Municipality’s preparation for its participation in the Mission and was related to Energy Production, Resources Management and Circular Economy. The workshop was organized and held with the support of the Cluster of Bioeconomy and Environment of Western Macedonia (CluBE).

The discussion was moderated by Mr. George Marnellos, Professor of the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Western Macedonia, while the presentation of the current situation followed by proposals related to Energy Production, Resources Management and Circular Economy, was given by Mr. Periclιs Kafasis, Supply and Program director at DIADYMA.

The workshop was attended by officials of the secretary general for Spatial Planning and Urban Environment of the ministry of energy, the technical secretary of the SDAM, as well as the technical secretary of the Unit for Organization and Management of Development Programs of the Ministry of Development.

Also, representatives of various authorities among them: CERTH, TEE / TDM, ANKO of Western Macedonia, DEYAK, EPEM, GEOTEE / TDM, ARSIS, DIADYMA, EPADYM, Advent Technologies (White Dragon), PED of Western Macedonia participated in the workshop.
