A meeting of the members of the Citizens’ Committee, who will participate in the co-design of the climate-neutral and “smart” Kozani of the future, took place on Monday, June 12, 2023, in the “Koventareio” meeting room.

The citizens were informed about the participation of Kozani as a pilot city, in the European Mission “100 Climate Neutral and Smart Cities by 2030”, as well as about the steps that have been implemented so far.

The mayor of Kozani, Lazaros Maloutas, welcomed the citizens and referred to the importance of the Cities Mission, as well as the benefits the region expects from it.

As part of the process, a detailed briefing on the Mission’s requirements, the existing planning of the Municipality of Kozani, as well as on the governance method that will be chosen for the implementation of the Municipality’s Action Plan, was provided by the authorities.

Specifically by Mr. Nikos Davos, administrator of the Western Macedonia Bioeconomy & Environment Cluster, Antonis Tourlidakis, Professor at the University of Western Macedonia and Kyriakos Vafiadis, Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Western Macedonia. The process was coordinated by the Deputy Mayor of Climate Neutrality & Depolitization, Vassilis Goumas.
