The participation of the Municipality of Kozani in the “Energopolis” program, which aims at the energy transition and resilience of cities, formed the basis for the Memorandum of Cooperation of the Municipality with the Organization Resilient Cities Catalyst.

The Memorandum of Cooperation was signed by the mayor of Kozani, Lazaros Maloutas, and the legal representative of the Organization, Konstantina Karydis, on Friday, December 15, 2023, in Athens.
The two partners will cooperate for the participation of the Municipality of Kozani in the “Energopolis” program, which will be completed on June 30, 2024. The cooperation is implemented in the context of the development policies implemented by the Municipality of Kozani in the direction of dealing with the effects of degrabonization and the transition to a new, socially just development model. The goal is to achieve climate neutrality and digital transformation by 2030.
It is noted that the “Energopolis” program is edited, coordinated and implemented by the organization Resilient Cities Catalyst based in New York and Athens and financed by the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy based in Brussels, while the implementing body is also the organization Climate Change Hub based in Athens.
“Energopolis” emphasizes on innovative methodologies of active involvement and training of young people, making use of international experience. Starting with the cooperation with the Municipality of Kozani, the project will be a model for identifying approaches and synergies that can be applied on a larger scale in other cities in Greece and Europe.
