Lazaros Maloutas the mayor of Kozani, at the 86th TIF – Climate neutral and smart cities on the agenda
With a rich agenda of speeches and presentations, the mayor of Kozani, Lazaros Maloutas, attended the 86th International Exhibition of Thessaloniki.
Mr. Maloutas participated as a speaker in the event organized by the General Secretariat of Spatial Planning and Urban Environment, on Saturday, September 10th, on the subject of the European Mission “100 climate neutral cities by and for the citizens”. The event was attended by the Deputy Minister of Spatial Planning and Urban Environment, Nikos Tagaras, as well as the Deputy Minister of Environment and Energy, Giorgos Amyras. The mayor presented the vision of Kozani for 2030.
Mr. Maloutas was also a speaker in the conference organized by TIF-HELEXPO and the Hellenic-French Chamber of Commerce & Industry within the framework of the 3rd HELEXPO FORUM, which was held under the auspices of the French Embassy. The panel where he gave a speech on Monday, September 12th, had as its main topic the applications of technology in smart cities.
On the same day, the mayor of Kozani participated in an event concerning climate neutrality, in the presence of representatives of Greek and Cypriot municipalities that were selected by the European Commission to join the Cities Mission.
In this event, participated as speakers: Chrysis Nikolaidis, member of the European Committee for the Cities Mission, Efthimios Bakoyannis, General Secretary of Spatial Planning and Urban Environment, Dr. Andreas Poulikas, president of the Cyprus Energy Regulatory Authority, and Mr. Professor Dimitris Psychogios, vice-president of RAE.
Mr. Maloutas analyzed the strategy and actions related to the environment and the digital transformation of the Municipality of Kozani, with the aim of climate neutrality in an area that in the past was characterized by the highest carbon intensity in Europe, and which to this day continues to face the resulting environmental degradation.
