In a beautiful event that took place on the afternoon of Friday, December 1 in the Amphitheater of the UoWM Campus, the students who participated in the Programming Competition “Kozani 2030: On the road to climate neutrality”, had the opportunity to talk about their proposals and ideas, for which they received gifts.
Nikolaos Ploskas, associate professor of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the UoWM, opened the event by welcoming the attendees, while the mayor of Kozani, Lazaros Maloutas and the Vice Chancellor, Eleni Griva, followed with greetings. The chairman of the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering, George Christoforidis, the Deputy Chairman of the Department, Markos Tsipouras, the Informatics Advisor for Primary and Secondary Education of Western Macedonia, Athanasios Papavasileiou, the head of the Informatics Department of the Regional Directorate of Education of Western Macedonia, Ioannis Palianopoulos and the deputy mayor of Digital Transition and New Technologies, Rafaelidis Anastasios were also present.
In the foyer of the building, students presented their constructions in a small exhibition. The competition was organized for the 4th year by the Municipality of Kozani, the Regional Directorate of Education of Western Macedonia and the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering of the UoWM. The students of Kozani regional unit, as well as the students of the UoWM, were invited to program an application with inspiration, imagination and creativity regarding the transformation of the Municipality of Kozani into a smart Municipality.
The competition was implemented within the framework of the Strategy of the Municipality of Kozani for the promotion of the Smart City model and was held under the auspices of the Ministry of Digital Governance.
